Welcome to Boxed In: Dots And Boxes Game (“Game”), operated by One Date. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access and use of the Game. By playing, you agree to these Terms.
No account creation is required to play.
Certain features, such as removing ads and unlocking unlimited undos and hints, require a one-time in-app purchase using your Apple ID or Google Play account.
All purchases are final. No cancellations or refunds will be issued.
The Game contains advertisements for free users.
Ads will be removed once the “Ad-Free” upgrade is purchased.
The Game is a turn-based abstract strategy game played on a 6x6 field of boxes formed by a 7x7 grid of dots. Players alternate drawing one link between two adjacent dots. Completing the fourth side of a box claims that box for you and grants you an immediate additional turn, so a single well-timed link can cascade into a long run of captures. The player holding the most of the 36 boxes when all 84 links are drawn wins the match.
Each match begins with a randomised number of neutral links, between one and eight, already drawn on the board. These links are permanent, belong to neither player, and are placed so that no box begins the match with only one side remaining. They shorten some chains and reshape the opening, so no two matches start from the same position.
The Game features an "Extra Move" mechanic available once per match to each player. Activating it holds your turn through a link that captures nothing, letting you play twice in succession. Because closing a box already grants another turn, the Extra Move matters most when you are forced to concede — it is a way to postpone handing the board to your opponent.
By playing, you acknowledge that the challenge of Boxed In — including chain counting, the deliberate sacrifice of boxes to retain control of the board, and a computer opponent that plays the closing sequence of links exactly — is an intentional part of the Game's design and core experience.
A stable internet connection may be required to load ads or complete purchases.
There are no strict age restrictions. Players are responsible for complying with local laws regarding age-appropriate content and consent.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Game constitutes acceptance of any updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any disputes arising under or relating to these Terms will be resolved exclusively in the courts of Singapore.
